Upper Seti Hydropower Project

Capacity

20 MW

Assignment Name

Feasibility Study

Narrative Description of the Project:

The project is located in Seti river of Kaski district with installed capacity of 20 MW and annual energy generation of 109.12 GWh. The project consist of a broad crested diversion weir with side intake facility to with draw design discharge of 12.41m3/s. There is a surface desilting basin with suitable silt exclusion culvert. Then the flow will be conveyed by a 95.8m, 2.6m dia headrace pipe and 2511.3 m long headrace tunnel with finished diameter of 3.2m after the desilting facilities. There is provision of surge shaft at the end of headrace tunnel and water is conveyed to drop shaft of 6m diameter and length of 27.67m ending in a horizontal pressure tunnel of 55m. Steel penstock pipe of length 428.8m bifurcates and conveys the design flow to 3 X 6.82 units of vertical axis Francis turbines. The turbine water is again discharged to Seti River through 2.8m X 2.8m box culvert of 185m length. The generated power will be evacuated from switchyard through a 16km transmission line of 132kV capacity, terminating at Lahachowk substation allotted by NEA.
