The Kathmandu Terai/Madhesh Fast Track (KTFT) (Expressway), that links Kathmandu valley to Terai intends to improve the transport reliability by providing a cost effective investment to improve links between Kathmandu with border points with northern and southern neighbors so that there is a considerable savings in both travel time and cost. This link is envisaged to be of Asian Highway Standard (Primary Class).

With the support of GCE Group, China State Construction Engineering Corporation has won the contract for Planning, Design, Engineering, Procurement, Construction and Commissioning of Twin Double Lane Standard Expressway Tunnel, Bridges and Expressway Works on Engineering, Procurement and Construction (EPC) Contract basis all complete.

]]> Chatara Hydropower Station, a canal drop type power station, is located at Chatara, Sunsari with installed capacity of 3.2 MW and annual design generation of 6 GWh. It was commissioned in 1996 AD in assistance from Government of India at a cost of NRs. 162.6 million and was handed over to NEA by Sunsari Morang Irrigation Project (SMIP) on 29 March, 1999. However, the power station has not undergone any major overhauling since the plant was brought into operation in 1996. The inconveniences to access the turbine assembly and the inability of gates and stop logs to seal the water have restricted the regular maintenance of the units. Team of in-house experts after visiting the site has given recommendations in connection with the repair and maintenance of the turbines. Based on recommendations, the power station has planned to carry out the overhauling of Unit No. 2 this year after procuring the additional spare parts and in coordination with Sunsari-Morang Irrigation Project, Biratnagar.

With the assistance of GCE Group, Turnkey contract for Supply Delivery, Erection, Installation & Commissioning of Electro-mechanical equipment for Chatara Hydropower Project was awarded to Sulzer Ltd, Germany.

]]> The Chilime Hydropower Plant is a peaking run off river type plant constructed and owned by Chilime Hydropower Company Limited. It is located at 133 km north of Kathmandu at the right bank of Bhotekoshi River in Rasuwa District. The plant with the installed capacity of 22.1 MW is delivering power to the National Grid through a 38 km long 66 kV single circuit transmission line at Trisuli Power House Switchyard at Trishuli, Nuwakot.

The electricity generated from the power plant is purchased by NEA at the powerhouse and evacuated as per the PPA made on June 25, 1997 and its first amendment made dated December 10, 2007. The annual deemed energy salable to NEA is 132.918 GWh, excluding penalty-free outage of 720 MWh (36hours) annually.

The plant has started its commercial generation from 00:00 hours of 24th August 2003. During 17 years of its operation, the plant has been operating successfully.

With the support of GCE Group,  VA Tech has won the contract for the turnkey contract for Supply Delivery, Erection, Installation & Commissioning of Electro-mechanical equipment for this project.

]]> SASEC Roads Improvement Project: The Narayanghat-Butwal road is the part of East West Highway. It passes through Chitwan, Nawalparasi and Rupandehi districts. The road starts at Pulchowk of Narayanghat (Chitwan district) and ends at Chauraha of Butwal (Rupandehi district). The total length of the road is 115 km. The project includes major activities, which includes drainage improvement, minor realignment, pavement improvement and widening of the existing road in to 4 lanes with intermediately service lane in both sides.

With the support of GCE Group, China State Construction Engineering Corporation has won the contract paper writings to upgrade the highway. The work is being financed by the Asian Development Bank.

]]> Lower Hewa Khola Hydropower Project (LHKHPP) (developed by Mountain Hydro Nepal Pvt. Ltd) is located in Panchthar District of Eastern Development Region of Nepal.  The project is a run-of-river type in which water will be diverted from the Hewa Khola and the Pheme Khola just upstream of their confluence, by constructing concrete weir at hewa and boulder rip-rap at Pheme. The Combined design discharge of project is 14.838 m3/s with 40% probability of exceedance level will be diverted for power generation through the side intakes located at left banks of Hewa Khola and Pheme Khola respectively. This project utilizes a gross head of 178.09 m in between the intakes at an elevation of 636.09masl and tailwater level 458.00 masl. The total length of the waterways including intakes, approach canals, settling basins, headrace tunnel, penstock pipe and tailrace will be about 6039 m.
